Reflections on the Readings and the Movie3

It is not hard to see how this chapter and movie relate to each other. I think that it was a great idea to make a movie based on the ride Pirates of the Caribbean. It was always one of my favorite rides and I was very excited when the movie first came out. There is also a movie based on the ride The Haunted Mansion from Disneyland. I think that it is also fun when they create rides based on  movies. For example Indiana Jones, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and the Star Wars rides that are all at Disneyland.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Cures of the Black Pearl (2003) is an awesome movie. The special effects are amazing. For example when Jack Sparrow(Johnny Depp) and Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) were sword fighting and their bodies move in and out of the moon light, in the light they are skeletons and in the dark they are normal. I think that Johnny Depp is an amazing actor, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are also great in the movie. It is so funny to see the parts that they took straight from the ride, like when Mr. Gibbs was sleeping with the pigs, the pirates in jail trying to bribe the dog with a bone so it will bring them the keys to the cell and when the pirate was chasing the lady through the town in her nightgown. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl is a wonderfully made movie that I truly enjoyed and I can hardly wait for the sequel to hit theaters.

Resource on the ReadingComments Off

I furled the Disneyland site and got to a page where it had a list of the rides. If you read through it, it is amazing to see how many rides were either made after movies or made into movies it’s pretty cool.

For this chapter the website that I furled has a lot of history on special effects. It talks about so of the earliest movies that special effects were used in. It is a very cool site and everyone should check it out you won’t be disappointed, I promise.

Reflections on the Reading and the Movies2

OK, so this chapter is my new favorite chapter so far. I think that special/visual effects really make a movie. It is funny to me, to see a movie made years ago with what at the time were ground breaking special effects and to compare it to the effects that we have today. So, I guess that means that they can only get better, though I don’t see how.

Star Wars: Episode II-Attach of the Clones (2002) is a great movie. I have seen every Star Wars movie except for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and the Attach of the Clones is one of my favorites. I can really see how the chapter relates to the movie. For example when the clones/storm troopers were marching together and there were thousands of them, obviously there wasn’t that many but it sure did look like it. I definitely think that the newer Star Wars movies are better than the old because of the special effects, although I think that the old ones are still great movies.

Resource on GenreComments Off

The two Genres I picked were Horror, and Science Fiction. The site that I furled for both Genres was an awesome website. It has so many movies and talks about all of them for example, it talk about the first Science fiction movie ever made,Le Voyage Dans La Lune ( A Trip to the Moon)(1902). The Horror site has everything from Le Manoir Du Diable (The Devil’s Castle)(1896) to The Hills Have Eyes (2006). It is pretty cool, I spent a long time on this site it was so interesting.

I found this chapter to be pretty informative for example how movies look at other movies and how well that they do, then make a similar movie. When the movie Ants came out I heard that the creature of ants worked for the creatures of A Bug’s Life, quit and made his movie Ants before A Bug’s Life even hit theatres. I don’t know if it is true or not.

Reflections and Resourse on the Movie1

The movie that I chose was Freddy vs. Jason (2003). I remember watching the Nightmare on Elm Street movies when I was younger, and being terrified. When I watched this movie I wasn’t scared at all, obviously because I’m not a child anymore. Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th were pretty big movies in their time, so I thought that it was pretty cool that they brought these two characters together to battle it out. The whole movie had the typical low budget film feel, especially because of the “no name” horrible actors who were in it. I didn’t really like the ending because there wasn’t a clear winner between the two, I guess it might have been Jason since he was carrying Freddy’s head, which was still alive and talking. I think that maybe this one should have been left alone.

I furled the official site for this movie it kind of fun there is a quiz that you can take and if you really want you can purchase some Freddy vs. Jason merchandise.

Resource on film elementsComments Off

I furled the same site for the two film elements, post production and voice over. It is the same site that I have used many times before. I think that it is the best site for explaining what different types of film elements are. The sites are
